What is PN pressure ?

PN represents the virtual pressure that the tube can withstand, that is also known as nominal pressure. PN is the numerical naming of each piping component system based on its mechanical properties, which is used as reference value.
The PN is the France term for the nominal pressure; the pressure instead of real pressure of a certain pipe. PN is usually used in the European standards DIN, EN, BS, ISO and so on.
Accordance to ISO 7268 standard, PN is the nominal pressure of an integer to classify types of taps and pipes represented as PN.
In ISO 7268BS standard, PN is defined as follows:
PN: alphanumeric designation that is used for reference purposes, comprising the letters PN followed by a dimensionless number relating to component pressure/temperature capability, taking into account component material mechanical properties and component dimensional characteristics.

What is PN in HDPE pipe?

The PN abbreviation used after the size of the polyethylene pipe represents the maximum pressure that the pipe can withstand; just like PN 16 PE100 DN63 that is a HDPE Pipe made of PE100 material and 63 mm in diameter, and should withstand a pressure of 16 bar.
PN Polyethylene pipes are in the weight and thickness table, and single-layer polyethylene pipe is produced from PN4 to PN25. Details of such pressures and specifications of these pipes with different PNs is shown in the same weight tables.
Polyethylene pipes ( HDPE Pipes) are produced at different work pressures (PN), and this work pressure (PN) is tolerable for pipes at temperatures of 20 °C. This temperature is best for polyethylene pipes. Various types of pipes have different PN grades and also different wall thickness, which is why the strength, power and flexibility of pipes are varied. Hence, the higher the PN, the greater the thickness of polyethylene pipe.
