At Borouge, we continue to expand our innovation capability. In November 2013 we completed a New Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi to focus on pipe, automotive and advanced packaging application solutions.

Production capacity of Borouge

In 2010 Borouge tripled the annual production capacity of its plant in Abu Dhabi to 2 million tonnes. With further expansion to 4.5 million tonnes scheduled in 2014, Borouge and Borealis will have a combined annual production capacity of approximately 8 million tonnes of polyethylene and polypropylene.

Borouge is expanding its commercial and logistics network in the Middle East and Asia and investing in its Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi and R&D Application Centre in Shanghai. Focused on our company mission, Value Creation through Innovation, we ensure that our customers throughout the value chain around the world can rely on differentiated products and reliability of supply.

Continuing our commitment to quality and enhanced customer satisfaction, our compounding facility in Shanghai (China) was certified in 2011 for particular requirements for the application of ISO /TS 16949 for automotive production and relevant service part organizations.

•     Energy Management System Certification (ISO 50001:2011)

ISO 50001 specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system, whose purpose is to enable an organization to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy use and consumption. The standard specifies requirements applicable to energy use and consumption, including measurement, documentation and reporting, design and procurement practices for equipment, systems, processes and personnel that contribute to energy performance.

Borouge has got Certified to ISO 50001:2011 for Borouge 1 and 2 plants in Ruwais in December 2015.

Environmental Management System Certification

Our dedication to the environment resulted in Environmental Management System certification as per the requirements of ISO 14001 since 2006.

Responsible Care® Certification

In 2013 Borouge attained the Responsible Care Management System RC14001 certification. We were the first company in the Gulf to have achieved this on an international level across all of its operations. This certification broadens the scope of the ISO 14001 standard beyond the traditional environmental management system, to include health and safety, security, distribution, product stewardship, process safety, community awareness and emergency response.

Requirements for ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 standards and RC14001 Technical Specifications are integrated into our Integrated Management System (IMS).
